Bottom trawling mainly targets demersal species, which live near the seabed, and benthic species, which live on the seabed
The benthic species fished are flatfishes like monkfish, megrim, plaice and rays, not forgetting crustaceans such as Norway Lobster. In our trawls can also be found demersal fishes as saithe, cod, eglefin or John dory.
From time to time, some ships go far enough from the coasts to bring back some deep-water species like forkbeards, scabbard fish or beryx.
